Delhi University: 1.8 Lakh Students Register

New Delhi, June 11: Online Delhi University (DU) admission forms have been a big hit with over 1.8 lakh students purchasing them till Tuesday and the varsity expecting to break records of previous years.

 

According to official data, 1,01,188 students have purchased the forms and paid online. Regarding offline forms, the varsity has received 79,293 filled application forms.

"A total of 1,80,481 applications have been received by the varsity so far and we are expecting to receive over four lakh applications by the last day," DU Joint Dean, Students' Welfare and Media Co-ordinator Malay Neerav said at a press conference.

The University of Delhi admissions began on June 2 and will end on June 16, with the first cut-off list to be released on June 24.

According to the official, the number of applications this year has already crossed the 2012-2013 mark of 1,53,680 when the varsity had a three-year undergraduate programme.

In the last academic year, with the introduction of the four-year undergraduate programme, the varsity received 249,661 applications.

The university has however sold more than 1.7 lakh forms from 18 different centres across Delhi. DU is conducting admissions for 54,000 seats in 61 colleges.
