The reopening applies to both government and private schools across the national capital, in line with the academic calendar followed by the Directorate of Education.

Start of Academic Session

The new session commenced on April 1, with schools reopening in the morning across Delhi. The transition follows the declaration of annual results for multiple classes in recent days, allowing students to move into the next academic year.

The beginning of the session also aligns with broader academic schedules followed by schools in several states, where April marks the start of the new academic cycle.

Admission Process Begins

Alongside the reopening, the Directorate of Education has initiated admission processes for the 2026-27 session.

  • Non-plan admissions for Classes 6 to 9 have started from April 1
  • The process will be conducted in multiple cycles through an online system
  • The first cycle is scheduled between April 1 and April 7

These admissions are aimed at students whose education may have been disrupted due to reasons such as relocation or transfer of parents.

Academic and Administrative Updates

With the new session underway, schools are expected to:

  • Begin regular classes as per timetable
  • Distribute updated textbooks and study materials
  • Implement revised academic schedules and internal assessments

In addition, policy-level changes such as fee regulation measures for private schools are also being considered for implementation from the new academic session.

What This Means for Students

The reopening marks the formal start of the academic year, with students transitioning into new classes and curricula. Schools are expected to follow a structured schedule to ensure timely completion of the syllabus and assessments.

Students and parents are advised to stay updated through official school notifications and the Directorate of Education website for any further announcements.
