Delhi Schools Closed News: Schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed for one week owing to a steep increase in air pollution levels accompanied by a rapid decline in the air quality in the national capital.
Informing about the decision to shut schools and educational institutions for a week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a presser said, "For a week from Monday onwards, schools will be physically closed (they can continue virtually) so children don't have to breathe polluted air," NTDV reported.

The decision to close schools and educational institutions in Delhi for a week was arrived at after the national capital reported a very "severe" air quality rating on the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The move, also comes, following a Supreme Court directive to the Center and to the Delhi government over the deteriorating air quality and increased air pollution in the national capital seeking emergency and immediate steps to contain the same. The apex court suggested imposing a lockdown for two days to contain the increased pollution levels in Delhi.
Reiterating his government's decision to shut schools and colleges for a week, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia in a Twitter post said, "All schools, colleges and educational institutes in Delhi to remain shut next week as pollution levels hit emergency level."

The decision to shut schools and educational institutions in Delhi for one week comes as a setback to students who had started to attend physical classes after they resumed in early November following a prolonged closure owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
