Delhi & Noida Schools Open Despite Morning Showers; No Holiday Announced Amid IMD Yellow Alert

Heavy rainfall brought welcome relief from the hot and humid weather across Delhi, Noida, and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday morning.

Delhi & Noida Schools Open Despite Morning Showers

The sudden downpour led to waterlogging in several areas and prompted many parents and students to wonder whether schools and colleges would remain closed for the day. However, as of now, no school holiday has been announced by the authorities.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Delhi-NCR

According to the India Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR, forecasting moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over the region. The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious during periods of intense rainfall and avoid unnecessary travel in waterlogged areas.

Despite the rainy conditions, the Delhi Government, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration, and the Gurugram district administration have not issued any notification directing schools or colleges to close. Educational institutions across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and other NCR regions are functioning according to their regular schedules.

School authorities have been advised to follow standard safety measures during adverse weather conditions. These include monitoring local weather updates, ensuring safe entry and exit of students, and taking appropriate precautions if rainfall intensifies during school hours.

The morning showers significantly lowered temperatures and provided much-needed relief after several days of oppressive heat and humidity. However, the rainfall also caused temporary traffic congestion and slow vehicle movement in some parts of the capital due to waterlogging and reduced visibility.

Parents are encouraged to check official communication from their child's school before leaving home, especially if weather conditions change during the day. Schools may take institution-specific decisions if local conditions become unsafe, but no district-wide closure has been announced.

The IMD has advised residents to remain alert for changing weather conditions, as intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day. Commuters should plan their journeys accordingly and exercise caution while driving during heavy showers.

At present, schools and colleges in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram remain open, and students are expected to attend classes as usual unless fresh orders are issued by the respective state governments or district administrations. Authorities continue to monitor the weather closely, and any future decisions regarding school closures will depend on updated forecasts and ground conditions.
