Delhi NMMS Scholarship 2026: Registration Opens Today for Class 8 Students – Apply Now
Delhi’s National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) registration for Class 8 opens today, September 9, 2026. Schools will accept entries till October 5 through the Directorate of Education portal. Eligible government, government-aided and local body students can earn Rs 12,000 a year. Registration will be coordinated by the Head of School at each campus.
Private school students are not eligible under Delhi NMMS. Applicants must belong to families with annual income up to Rs 3.5 lakh. Most candidates also need at least 55 percent in Class 7, with relaxation for reserved categories. These conditions help target support to students who face higher dropout risk.
Delhi NMMS registration dates and window
The registration window runs from September 9 to October 5, 2026. Inform your class teacher early, especially if documents require fresh issuance. Entries are submitted online by schools; there is no independent student application link. Mark these dates now to avoid last‑day rush and verification bottlenecks.
Delhi NMMS eligibility: who qualifies this year
Only Class 8 students studying in Delhi government, government‑aided or local body schools may apply. Most need 55 percent in Class 7, with a five‑percent relaxation for reserved categories. Income must not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh annually. Private and residential school students are excluded from NMMS benefits.
How schools will register and verify details
Heads of Schools will file applications on edudel using official credentials via School Plant, Scholarship, School information entry form, then Application form. They must enter Aadhaar‑based details exactly as per records, verify eligibility, and submit. Science Branch later generates roll numbers and centres; schools print and attest admit cards.
Documents required for Delhi NMMS
Keep a valid income certificate from SDM or Tehsildar, Aadhaar‑based particulars matching school records, and category or disability certificates where applicable. A recent passport photograph will be needed for admit card printing. Schools will also check your Class 7 mark sheet to confirm the prescribed percentage.
Scholarship amount and next steps on NSP
Selected students receive Rs 12,000 each year in Classes 9 to 12 through Direct Benefit Transfer. After the state merit list, beneficiaries must complete formalities on the National Scholarship Portal. From 2026–27, NSP permits applying to one merit‑based scheme plus welfare schemes, subject to eligibility. Apply early and track school notices.
