The registration for admission to Classes 6 to 9 at government schools in Delhi, initiated by the Directorate of Education (DoE) on April 8, has commenced. Applications are being accepted in three cycles: 1, 2, and 3. The application forms for cycle 1 are now accessible on the DoE website - edudel.nic.in. The window for submitting applications for the first cycle will close at 5 pm on April 17.

As per the official notice, the admission procedure for Delhi government schools in the non-plan category will be conducted in three cycles. The current cycle, cycle 1, is exclusively for fresh candidates (non-plan admissions). Existing students of government and government-aided schools are required to approach their respective schools for transfer or re-admission.
For admission to Class 6, candidates who have either passed or been promoted from Class 5 can complete their registration online. Out-of-school children are mandated to register in person at the nearest school to their residence.
Furthermore, parents of children aged between 10 and 12 years who have not been enrolled in school are strongly encouraged to register their child at the nearest school. Upon registration, the child will undergo an assessment for Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, and their class placement will be determined based on the assessment results.
Students currently or formerly enrolled in government or government-aided schools through the National Service Scheme (NSS) are encouraged to seek guidance from their last attended school regarding transfer or readmission procedures. The registration deadline for the first cycle is April 17. On April 29, the DOE will publish the school allotment list for registered cycle 1 students. Those listed must submit/verify their documents for admission to the allocated school between April 30 and May 10, 2024.
