Delhi G20 Summit 2023; Offices, Schools and Colleges to be Closed from Sep 8-10

The Education Minister of New Delhi, Atishi, made a public announcement that all offices, colleges, and schools would remain closed from 8th of September to 10th due to the G20 Leaders Summit happening between 9th of September to 10th.The minister stressed on Delhi's preparedness for the summit and conveyed that to extend foreign representatives a warm welcome, major roads have undergone renovation.

She pointed to a significant tunnel's successful construction, leading to the India Trade Promotion Organisation complex.She explained that this tunnel, funded by the central government and built by the Public Works Department, links 'Purana Qila' to the Ring Road, bolstering security and creating a valuable future asset.Furthermore, Atishi highlighted environmental conservation efforts, mentioning the plantation of 1.5 lakh saplings. Fountains and statues have also been installed as part of the summit's preparations. In addition, the AAP ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi oversaw the beautification and renovation of major markets in Greater Kailash 2 and Mehrauli.

G20 Summit Hosted by India

The G20 Summit will be held at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the summit. India took over the G20 presidency on December 1 last year, with close to 200 meetings related to G20 held across 60 cities nationwide.

The Ministry, government agencies, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are working tirelessly, carrying out various initiatives to ensure that the international event goes smoothly. The G20 Summit represents not only an opportunity to highlight India on the world stage but also beneficial development and beautification initiatives for the city of Delhi.

Launch of 'G20 India' Mobile App

To facilitate seamless interactions with Indian and foreign delegates during the summit, the government launched the 'G20 India' mobile app, providing language options for all member countries, as well as access to UPI and navigation services.
