The last date to apply for UGC NET 2017 exam has been extended to November 23. Central Board of School Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced that the deadline for National Eligibility Test (NET) by University Grants Commission (UGC) held next year is extended.
Earlier the last date for filling up the application form was November 16 and the last date for submitting the application fee was November 17. Now, the last date for submission of fees is November 24.
Fees can be paid through e-challan/debit/credit card at designated branches of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC banks. According to a circular from CBSE, the facility of correcting data (particulars) of applicants will be operational on the CBSE official website from November 28 to December 3.
The exam that is scheduled for January would be testing the ability of candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and issuing Junior Research Fellowship.
It is to be held in 84 subjects at 90 selected cities across the country. The admit cards will release on December 21. The general category candidates has to pay Rs 600, for OBC it is Rs 300 while for SC/ ST, Rs 100 is the exam fees.
The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor
The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them

- Log on to cbsenet.nic.in
- In the application form, read the detailed notification carefully
- Choose the password and security question and enter your answer
- Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining 'Steps of the Application Form'
- Remember your login details as it will be required for all future correspondence
