CUET UG 2025: NTA Launches New Official Website – What Students Need to Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched a dedicated website for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Undergraduate 2025, marking a significant step in streamlining the admission process for universities across India. With CUET gaining prominence as the primary gateway to higher education in numerous central, state, private, and deemed-to-be universities, the newly established website (cuet.nta.nic.in) is expected to serve as a vital resource for aspirants.

CUET UG 2025: NTA Launches New Official Website

Key Features of the CUET UG 2025 Website

The website is designed to be a one-stop platform for all CUET-related updates, including application forms, exam guidelines, and university participation lists. Although the application process has not yet begun, students are advised to regularly check the website for notifications regarding registration deadlines and other important announcements.

For a hassle-free application experience, NTA has partnered with major banks, including State Bank of India, Canara Bank, and HDFC Bank, to facilitate smooth online payment transactions. Additionally, an official helpdesk has been set up to assist candidates facing payment-related or technical difficulties.

CUET UG 2025: Key Exam Structure Changes

CUET UG 2025 will see a fundamental transformation in its format, following recommendations from education experts and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The most significant updates include:

  • Fully Computer-Based Test (CBT): Unlike the hybrid format of previous years, CUET UG 2025 will be conducted entirely as a computer-based test, improving efficiency and reducing logistical challenges.
  • Subject Reduction: The number of subjects has been streamlined from 63 to 37, ensuring a more structured and relevant exam pattern.
  • General Aptitude Test (GAT): Some omitted subjects will now be assessed under a new General Aptitude Test (GAT), giving students an alternative route for admissions.
  • Revised Language Papers: Language test options have been reduced from 33 to 13, covering key regional and national languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • Standardized Duration and Question Count: To maintain consistency, all subjects will have a fixed duration of 60 minutes, with candidates required to attempt all questions-eliminating the previous optional question format.

How These Changes Impact Students?

These modifications aim to create a more student-friendly and efficient examination system. By reducing the number of subjects and ensuring uniformity in test duration, CUET UG 2025 is expected to be more accessible and manageable for students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Moreover, the transition to a fully computer-based test enhances transparency in the evaluation process and reduces the possibility of errors or delays. The introduction of GAT provides additional flexibility for students whose preferred subjects are no longer part of the domain-specific list.

University Admissions and CUET UG 2025

With over 250 universities expected to accept CUET scores, students must verify whether their desired institutions are participating in the exam. The inclusion of state and private universities alongside central institutions makes CUET UG 2025 a crucial examination for students aiming for quality education in India.

Additionally, universities such as Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) have already opened admissions for the 2025-26 academic session, offering more than 40,000 seats across various disciplines. With CUET UG playing a key role in the admission process, students should stay updated with university-specific requirements.
