New Delhi February 16: Emphasising the role of children in protection of water resources, Union Minister Sanwar Lal Jat today called upon students, parents and teachers to join hands for creating awareness about water conservation and protection of water resources.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of the 5th National Level Painting Competition organised by the Central Ground Water Board here, the Minister of State for Water Resources said the beautiful ideas presented by children in their paintings will motivate others for conservation and judicious utilisation of water, a press release here said.
Children are at an age, where we can imbibe them with all good habits, he said adding conservation of water was important to all of us and it has to come in their habit and mind so that they turn into a water conscious human being.

Amarjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources emphasised that children are the water ambassador for the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
He told them to carry the message of water conservation to their parts of states. He said that water use efficiency has to be increased in order to assure maximum yield per unit of irrigated area, the release added.
