Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has officially launched the application process for its prestigious PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25. Interested candidates can submit their applications through JNU's official website, jnu.ac.in, before the deadline of December 2, 2024. The admissions process will primarily consider scores from national-level exams like NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF, and GATE, reflecting a transition in JNU's approach to PhD selections.

Following the June 2024 cancellation of the NET examination, JNU is evaluating a shift back to its traditional in-house entrance exams for PhD admissions. This consideration, led by Vice-Chancellor Santishree D Pandit, aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 while addressing concerns about admissions reliability. However, a lack of consensus among deans and faculty has posed challenges to finalizing this change, leaving the decision pending.
