CHSE Revises Class 12 Syllabus in Odisha

The academic council committee of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) approved new syllabus for plus two courses in Odisha on Tuesday. The new courses approved by the academic committee will be implemented from 2016-17 academic session.

"The new syllabi is aimed to help Odisha students fare better in various competitive and national level entrance exams like JEE, CAT, MAT, XAT and other competitive jobs," said CHSE chairman Basudev Chhatoi. "The new syllabi was prepared by syllabus committees on different subjects comprised of senior plus two teachers and subject experts from across the state," he added.

The new syllabus is line with the CBSE syllabus and is focused on objective pattern questions as in CSBE syllabi while examination pattern has also been changed accordingly.

The decision of revision of syllabus in plus two level was taken following an inquiry by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) about how many students from the state qualified the JEE Main and JEE Advanced in 2013-14. The CAG also sought information about the number of students from the state took admission in premier institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and National Institute of Technology (NIT), the officer added.
