The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha has commenced the Plus Two (Class 12) practical and project examinations across the state, marking a key milestone in the board's 2026 assessment calendar. The practical exams began on January 2, 2026, and are scheduled to continue until January 15, 2026.

Mass Participation Across Streams
According to official reports, more than 2 lakh students from Science, Arts, Commerce, and Vocational streams are appearing for the practical and project assessments this year.
- Science stream has the highest number of candidates, with over one lakh students taking part.
- The Arts stream follows with around 80,000 students registered.
- A significant number of students from Commerce and Vocational streams are also participating.
Examinations are being held in multiple subjects across all streams, including core science practicals, arts practicals, commerce subjects, and various vocational disciplines.
Guidelines Issued for Smooth Conduct
To ensure the practical exams are administered smoothly and transparently, CHSE Odisha has issued detailed instructions to all affiliated colleges and examination centres:
- Institutions must make adequate logistical arrangements and follow strict exam protocols.
- Any irregularities reported during the examination process must be immediately communicated to the Controller of Examinations.
- Same-day evaluation of answer sheets is being implemented, with marks to be uploaded directly to the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal between January 5 and January 15.
Assessment and Result Preparation
The board's approach aims to expedite evaluation and ensure that practical marks, along with internal assessment scores, are recorded in time for final result compilation. Students are advised to follow all instructions issued by their respective examination centres and reach exam halls well before scheduled times.
Looking Ahead: Theory Exams
Following the practical and project assessment phase, the main CHSE Odisha Board (Class 12) theory examinations for the 2026 session are slated to begin in the later part of February 2026, running through March. Students are encouraged to use the practical exam period to finalise preparations for the upcoming theory papers.
