Central Govt likely to reduce age limit for UPSC aspirants
The Central government is likely to relax the age limit and reduce the number of attempts for UPSC Civil Services Examination aspirants.
As per the notification released by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the upper age limit and number attempts has been reduced.
Changes in upper age limit:
- For General Category aspirants: from 30 to 26
- For Other Backward Classes (OBC) aspirants: from 33 to 28
- For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) aspirants: from 35 to 29
Changes in a number of attempts:
- For General Category aspirants: 3 times
- For Other Backward Classes (OBC) aspirants: 5 times
- For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) aspirants: 6 times
But, the Department of Personnel and Training said that they have not received any such notifications.
As per the reports, this order will be implemented from the year 2015. Meanwhile, UPSC and government officials are deny this report.
Earlier, the last UPA government has decided to implement this order.
"There is no proposal before the government to reduce the age limit for civil services," a government spokesperson said.
