CBSE Makes Major Changes in Class 10 & Class 12 Curriculum for 2025-26 Academic Year

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the syllabi for Class 10 and Class 12 for the academic year 2025-26, introducing significant changes to enhance students' learning experiences. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has updated the syllabi for Class 10 and Class 12 for the academic year 2025-26, introducing major changes to improve learning outcomes, skill development, and assessment patterns.

Key Changes for Class 10:

1. Revised Subjects & Curriculum:

• Students must select a skill-based subject, including options like Artificial Intelligence, IT, or Computer Applications.
• English or Hindi must be chosen as a compulsory language subject.

2. Examination System:

• The board exams will now be conducted twice a year (February & April), allowing students to improve scores.

3. New Passing Criteria:

• A 9-point grading system has been introduced.
• Students need to secure at least 33% in each subject.
• If a student fails a core subject (Maths, Science, Social Science), a passed skill-based subject or additional language can be used as a replacement.

Key Changes for Class 12:

1. New Elective Subjects Introduced:

• Land Transportation Associate
• Electronics & Hardware
• Physical Activity Trainer
• Design Thinking & Innovation

2. Curriculum Structure:

The syllabus is now divided into seven major learning areas:

• Languages
• Humanities
• Mathematics
• Sciences
• Skill-based Subjects
• General Studies
• Health & Physical Education

3. Exam Schedule:

• The Class 12 board exams will be conducted annually, starting February 17, 2026.

4. Assessment System:

• A new 9-point grading system will replace the traditional marks-based evaluation.
