CBSE Releases Guidelines for Practical Exams of Private Students Starting on February 15th

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released guidelines for the administration of practical exams for private candidates. The CBSE practical exams for the year 2024 are scheduled to take place from February 15 to March 15.

CBSE Guidelines for Practical Exams

These guidelines encompass various aspects, including details about the venue, appointment of external examiners, handling of answer books, marks uploading procedures, and specific actions to be taken by students, schools, and examiners.

As per the board's directives, practical exams will be conducted for students from the past two years whose marks are unavailable due to repetition in practical or theory exams, or due to absence during exams. Additionally, exams will be organized for students from the year 2021 who have applied for practical exams.

CBSE Practical Exams 2024: Implementation Guidelines

According to CBSE, the examination centers are required to undertake the following procedures:

  • The center superintendent at the exam center must create a comprehensive list, organized by class and subject, encompassing all students slated to undergo practical exams.
  • The center superintendent at the exam center should initiate early contact with the regional office to secure the appointment of an external examiner.
  • Under no circumstances should the center superintendent independently appoint an external examiner.
  • The scheduling of practical exams, considering the availability of the examiner, student convenience, and CBSE datesheet, shall be decided by the center superintendent.
  • Students are to be notified well in advance regarding the scheduled date and time of their exams.
  • The regional offices are to be informed about the devised plan for practical exams.

CBSE emphasized that practical exams for all students will occur at the same examination centers designated for theory exams. While external examiners will be appointed by CBSE regional offices, internal examiners will be appointed by the respective schools. Private students affiliated with CBSE are required to contact their exam centers with a copy of their previous marksheet and the admit card for the exam. Students are advised to make note of the date and time of their practical exams and report to the exam center accordingly.
