The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notice reminding all affiliated schools to strictly comply with mandatory public disclosure norms as prescribed under CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws.

The move aims to strengthen transparency, accountability and informed decision-making for parents, students and stakeholders. CBSE has directed schools to upload and regularly update key institutional information on their official websites within the stipulated timeline.
Brief Overview
As per the CBSE notice, every affiliated school must ensure that mandatory public disclosure details are clearly displayed on its website in a user-friendly manner. These disclosures help parents verify a school's legal status, infrastructure, academic strength and staff qualifications before seeking admission. CBSE has cautioned that non-compliance may attract penalties, including action under affiliation rules.
What CBSE-Affiliated Schools Need to Upload
CBSE has outlined specific categories of information that must be uploaded and kept updated:
General School Information
Schools must display their name, address, contact details, affiliation number, school code, email ID, and the name of the trust or society running the institution. Details of the school principal, including qualifications and experience, must also be mentioned.
Documents and Certificates
Mandatory documents include the affiliation letter issued by CBSE, trust or society registration certificate, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state government, recognition certificate, building safety certificate, fire safety certificate and sanitation certificate. These documents should be valid and clearly legible.
Academic Information
Schools are required to upload details of classes offered, curriculum followed, fee structure, academic calendar, list of textbooks, and information related to board examination results. The availability of special education support and extracurricular activities should also be highlighted.
Staff Details
A complete list of teaching and non-teaching staff must be published, mentioning names, qualifications, designation and experience. This ensures transparency regarding faculty strength and compliance with CBSE qualification norms.
Infrastructure and Facilities
Schools must disclose information about land area, built-up area, number of classrooms, laboratories, library, drinking water, toilets, playgrounds, and safety-related infrastructure such as CCTV and transport facilities.
CBSE's Compliance Warning
CBSE has made it clear that schools must update these disclosures regularly and ensure accuracy. Any false, misleading or missing information may invite strict action, including inspection, penalties, or withdrawal of affiliation in serious cases.
Importance of Public Disclosure
The mandatory public disclosure initiative aligns with CBSE's broader goal of improving governance and transparency in school education. It empowers parents with verified information, promotes accountability among schools and ensures that affiliated institutions maintain minimum quality and safety standards.
Schools are advised to review the latest CBSE notice carefully and complete all disclosures promptly to remain compliant with affiliation norms.
