CBSE Establishes New Regional Office in Dubai

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification regarding the establishment of a new regional office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai. The regional office is scheduled to commence its operations from the academic session 2024-25.

As per an official notification from CBSE, it states, "Following the approval of the Affiliation Committee during its meeting on 09.05.2023 under Item No. XXI (S. No. C), and subsequent ratification by the Governing Body during its meeting on 14.06.2023, along with the subsequent endorsement by the Controlling Authority of the Board, namely the Secretary (SE&L), Ministry of Education, Government of India, a new Regional Office and Centre of Excellence (COE) will be inaugurated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates."

The notification also indicated that all international schools affiliated with the CBSE board will fall under the jurisdiction of the regional office in Dubai. CBSE further informed that the training activities at the Centre of Excellence, Dubai, will commence following the establishment of the new regional office.
The official announcement concluded by stating, "Henceforth, the jurisdiction of the Regional Office, Delhi (East), will remain unchanged, except for Foreign Schools starting from the Academic Session 2024-25."

During his address at the 'Ahlan Modi' diaspora event in Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the educational aspect of India's relationship with the UAE. He remarked, "More than 1.5 lakh Indian students are enrolled in schools in the UAE. Last month, a master's course commenced at the IIT Delhi campus here, and a new CBSE office will soon open in Dubai. These institutions will contribute to providing high-quality education to the Indian community in the region."
