Over 42 lakh students embarked on their journey through the CBSE board exams for Classes 10 and 12, which commenced on Saturday. These exams are being held across more than 7,800 centres globally, including 26 centres abroad, ensuring a wide reach. This significant educational event is spread across various subjects, with 24.12 lakh students from Class 10 sitting for exams in 84 subjects, and their seniors, the 17.88 lakh Class 12 students, tackling exams in a broader scope of 120 subjects.

The first day saw Class 10 students delve into their English (Communicative) and English (Language and Literature) papers, while Class 12 students were tested on their Entrepreneurship skills. With a schedule that places the conclusion of Class 10 exams on March 18 and the Class 12 exams ending on April 4, students are in for a rigorous academic schedule over the coming weeks.
To support students during this stressful period, the CBSE has initiated its annual counselling service, a gesture aimed at easing the pressure of board exams. This service offers a helping hand to students navigating through their theory exams. "A team of 66 trained professionals principals, counsellors, special educators from CBSE-affiliated schools, and psychologists will offer voluntary support to students. The services are available between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm from Monday to Saturday," mentioned a senior board official.
This counselling endeavour is not just confined to India; it extends support globally, with "fifty-one counsellors are based in India, while 15 counsellors will connect from Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates to guide students," as per the board official. This international reach underscores the CBSE's commitment to its student body's well-being, providing a comprehensive network of support across various time zones.
In conclusion, the CBSE board exams mark a pivotal time for millions of students in India and abroad. With an extensive setup to facilitate these exams and a dedicated counselling service to ease exam stress, the CBSE aims to ensure a smooth and supportive exam experience for all candidates.
