CBSE Board Exams 2021: Class 10th Exam Cancelled, 12th Postponed

CBSE has cancelled the Class 10 Board Exam 2021 and postponed the Class 12 Board Exams. The decision comes after PM Modi held a meeting with the Ministry of Education, and top officials to discuss the matter.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the Class 10 Board Exam 2021 and postponed the Class 12 Board Exams. The decision comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high level meeting on 14 April 2021 with the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and other top officials to discuss the matter. The decision for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be reviewed on June 1 by the board, and details will be shared thereafter.

CBSE Class 10th Exam Cancelled, 12th Postponed

The officials have decided to promote Class 10 students on the basis of Internal Assessment and the results will be prepared on the basis of Objective criterion. Any student who is not satisfied with the allocated marks on this basis will be given an opportunity to give an exam when the conditions are conducive.

"The Prime Minister reiterated that the well being of the students has to be the top priority for the Government. He also stated that the Centre would keep in mind the best interests of the students and ensure that their health is taken care of at the same time their academic interests are not harmed," stated the Press Release by the Ministry of Education.

"An overview was given on the X and XII board exam to be held from next month. The Board exam for class X and XII conducted by CBSE are scheduled to begin from 4th May, 2021. The pandemic situation in the country is seeing a resurgence of COVID 19 positive cases in many states, with a few states having been affected more than others. In this situation, schools have been shut down in 11 states. Unlike State Boards, CBSE has an all-India character, and therefore, it is essential to hold exams simultaneously throughout the country," it further added.

Amid a fresh surge in coronavirus cases across the country, over one lakh students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other boards have signed petitions online urging the government to cancel the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams 2021. The students either want the Board exams to be cancelled or conduct them in online mode.

Meanwhile, the students have also been using the hashtag "cancelboardexams2021" on Twitter that has been trending with nearly 7 lakh tweets.

While the Class 12th exams are postponed, this also provides the students an opportunity to extend their last-minute preparations by a month or more.
