The online registration for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2014 had concluded on September 30, 2014. A total of 1,89,759 candidates have registered for the CAT exam.
This is the lowest turnout for registration in the last 8 years. Does this mean that the popularity of the CAT declining?.
CAT 2014 is the gateway exam for admission to MBA programmes in IIMs and other top B-schools across the country.
In 2013, around 1.94 lakh candidates had registered for CAT. The table below indicates the number of candidates registered for CAT exam in last 8 years.

CAT 2014 Convenor, IIM Indore, Dr Rohit Kapoor said, "A total of 1,89,759 candidates have been registered for CAT 2014."
The total number of seats being offered for the MBA programme and the institutes which offer MBA are increasing, but the number of students registering for CAT is declining.
