Calcutta University has extended the last date to apply for undergraduate courses to July 31, 2017. The move comes after many student bodies requested the state education department for an extension. The admission dates were initially set to conclude on July 22, 2017.
The colleges that are affiliated to the university can take in students for admission for UG courses and fill up the vacant seats with permissible intake capacity from July 24 to July 31, 2017.
The State Education minister Partha Chatterjee commented saying "We have decided to extend the date from July 22 to July 31 as we were getting lot of requests from guardians and students requesting to extend the date of admission."
The students who are seeking for admissions can apply for the same on the official website of the university.

The Councils for Undergraduate Studies, Nishat Alam made the announcement in a letter which was addressed to the various principals of the institutions that are affiliated with the University of Calcutta.
The last date of the admissions to first year undergraduate courses has also been extended to to August 7, 2017.
Alam said, " If any seat remains vacant in any subject/department in your college, you are allowed to invite fresh online application for admission to 1st year class of three-year undergraduate degree courses of studies to fill up the vacant seats within permissible intake capacity from July 24 to July 31, 2017."
