The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has started the registration process for the School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026. Candidates aspiring to qualify for school librarian positions in Bihar can now submit their applications through the designated portal, sletregistration.cbrt.co.in. The online application window opened on October 1, 2026, and will remain active until October 21, 2026.

The examination is being conducted as an eligibility test for candidates seeking school librarian eligibility in the state. The board has also specified the academic qualification, examination format, qualifying requirements and application fee for applicants.
Candidates applying for the test are required to fulfil the prescribed educational and other eligibility conditions. Applicants should be residents of Bihar and must have the required graduation qualification along with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science from a recognised university, as prescribed by the board. The notification also provides relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks for eligible categories.
The minimum age prescribed for applicants is 21 years. BSEB has also announced a 10-year age relaxation for candidates across categories. Candidates should refer to the detailed notification for the applicable age cut-off date and category-wise conditions.
The Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The examination will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks, and candidates will have 150 minutes to complete the test.
The question paper will contain two sections:
| Subject | Marks |
| Library Science | 100 |
| General Knowledge | 50 |
| Total | 150 |
Each question carries one mark and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The Library Science portion will form the larger component of the examination, while General Knowledge will account for the remaining 50 marks.
The notification specifies different minimum qualifying percentages for different categories. The qualifying threshold is 50% for General candidates, while the prescribed minimum is lower for BC, EBC, SC, ST, PwD and women candidates, as applicable.
Candidates should check the official notification for the exact category-wise qualifying requirement before beginning their examination preparation.
