British Council Announces Annual Summer School Programme

May 13, 2015: The British Council in India is delighted to announce the return of its annual Summer School programme.

Every year British Council hosts a Summer School course at its centre in Delhi. This programme is offered to Young Learners between the ages of 8 and 15.

This year's topic is ‘Caring for the Planet'. The course provides theme based activities designed to develop speaking, writing, reading and listening skills as well as vocabulary and pronunciation.

Through fun, interactive classes students develop team building and group discussion skills by working with classmates in pairs and in small groups. By treating every child as an individual we help them to communicate confidently, and to use English in real-life situations.

British Council Announces Annual Summer School

Speaking about the British Council's Summer School, Michael Gordon, Teaching Centre Manager, India said: "We chose our theme of this year's programme - ‘Caring for the Planet' because we notice a growing interest in the topic among our younger students. These children care about their surroundings, so we offer them the chance to improve English while addressing environmental issues, and learning to become more responsible global citizens."

Gordon went on to add: "We are especially excited about the Summer School this year as the centre has just opened seven brand new classrooms in our newly refurbished beautiful building. I am also proud of our internationally qualified teaching team. We take child well-being very seriously, and follow global child protection policies"

Learners also get the opportunity to enter an art competition, a writing competition and to win prizes in an environment themed fancy dress event on the last day of the course.

The Young Learner Summer School promises to be a fun-filled programme where children get to demonstrate their teamwork, creativity and English language skills.

We also offer young learner speaking and writing courses, general English courses and workshops in storytelling, poetry, debating skills and more.

Our Summer School in Delhi runs in two sessions from 23 May - 12 June and from 17 June - 12 August.
