BRAOU Rolls Out Stipend-Based Apprenticeship Programme for UG Students

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) has rolled out a new Stipend-Based Apprenticeship Programme (SAP) for its undergraduate students, offering them the opportunity to gain industry exposure while pursuing their degrees.

In a major step towards integrating education with employability, BRAOU has collaborated with the Retailers Association's Skill Council of India (RASCI) under the Skill India Mission.

The programme is the first-of-its-kind in India where open university students will now be able to earn a monthly stipend ranging from ₹7,000 to ₹24,000 through structured apprenticeship training.

Who Can Apply?

Undergraduate students currently enrolled in BA, B.Com, or B.Sc programs at BRAOU

Recent graduates from BRAOU (within age limit)

  • Age criteria: 18 to 28 years
  • Open to both men and women

Institutional Partnership

On July 7, 2025, BRAOU signed an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RASCI, paving the way for this unique educational and industry initiative. The MoU was signed by Registrar Dr. L. Vijaya Krishna Reddy and RASCI Executive Director James Raphael, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani.

Prof. Chakrapani emphasized that this initiative is a part of BRAOU's broader mission to make education more practical, skill-based, and employment-oriented. He added that such initiatives will empower rural and economically disadvantaged students by providing income and professional skills.
