The Bihar cabinet approved a plan to form separate cadres of primary school head teachers and secondary school headmasters in government schools.
Bihar education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary told the media that the move represented Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's commitment to enhancing the state's quality of education in government schools. According to Choudhary, "It's a good step because the schools were lacking in leadership. It would assist to enhance the atmosphere on campuses."

According to the education minister, Bihar would appoint 40,500 primary school teachers and 5,300 secondary school principals.
BPSC Teachers Recruitment: Eligibility
Only teachers who are currently employed will be considered for the job openings.
Those who are currently employed as teachers in grades 6 to 8 are eligible to apply.
Those who have taught grades 1 to 5 for at least 8 years are also eligible to apply.
Those outside the government school system might apply for higher secondary schools, but they would need considerably more experience than the eight years required for government school teachers, according to the education minister.

Teachers with educational and training degrees and more than 10 years experience in Plus Two or a minimum of 12 years of teaching experience in Classes 9th and 10th from schools accredited by the ICSE, CBSE, or Bihar Board are also qualified.
