Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has opted to utilize the scores from the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test (CSIR NET) 2024 for admission into PhD programs for the academic session 2024-25.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) qualifications are eligible for consideration under the RET-Exempted mode.
- Those who have obtained JRF, as well as those falling into categories II and III of the UGC/CSIR NET June 2024, will be considered under the RET mode.
- For PhD program admissions through the Research Entrance Test (RET) at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, scores from the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board (ASRB) examination 2024 will be taken into account.
- BHU has outlined two pathways for PhD admissions: the Research Entrance Test (RET) mode and the Research Entrance Test Exempted (RET-Exempted) mode. The university has made it clear that previous NET scores will not be accepted for PhD admissions in the upcoming academic session.
BHU PhD Admission 2024
BHU offers PhD admission through two modes:
- Research Entrance Test (RET) Mode
- Research Entrance Test - Exempted (RET-Exempted) Mode
Candidates with JRF qualifications will be considered under the RET Exempted Mode. Additionally, candidates qualified for Categories II and III, along with JRF-qualified candidates of the UGC/CSIR NET Exam June 2024, will be eligible for consideration under the RET mode.
BHU has also indicated that PhD admission under this mode will be applicable at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, taking into account the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board (ASRB) Examination 2024.
