The Bangalore University has decided to collect convocation fee and examination fee of the final semester together to make easy for the students to apply for the degree certificates.
A decision on collecting fee has been taken in a meeting with Vice-chancellor and syndicate members.
BU, Vice-chancellor, Thimme Gowda said, "There are issues in the process (of applying for degree certificate). To avoid all these, we have come up with this measure."
The registrar, Ninge Gowda said that, they have decided to take this measure, following several complaints of colleges harassing the students for providing the degree certificates.
He also said, once the fee is paid by the student, he / she can attend the convocation in person and collect the certificate. Either, it will be sent to the respective colleges.
The University is receiving several complaints that some of the full-time faculties are engaged in full-time course at other colleges, so varsity has decided to take action against those faculties.
Thimme gowda said we have decided to identify such cases by alerting the colleges.
Similarly, University has received a complaints of malpractice at Bangalore Institute of Management Studies (BIMS) during MBA examination. The varsity has cancelled the institute as an exam centre and shifted to the Surana College in Kengeri.
Ninge Gowda said, "When we visited the college, we found the chief superintendent (principal of the college) absent, which itself is a violation."
