Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has introduced a mobile application named Namaste BHU to enhance digital connectivity within the university. This app aims to streamline access to services and information for students and faculty, thereby improving the overall campus experience.

Namaste BHU is available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Users can create an account by using their registered mobile number with BHU.
Namaste BHU offers a variety of services, including detailed information about faculties, departments, and programs. It also features a directory of key officials, teachers, and staff, complete with names, designations, emails, and phone numbers. Additionally, users can search for books, journals, and other e-resources through the app.
Students can use the app to register grievances related to admissions, fees, exams, and other issues. Hostel wardens can also raise complaints regarding hostel matters through this platform.
The Namaste BHU team is working on adding more features soon, including counseling services for students and making all important notifications visible to users.
"As part of the IoE initiative, this app will improve digital connectivity and services for both students and faculty," said Professor Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator of Institution of Eminence - BHU. He also mentioned that a dedicated team is constantly working on upgrading the app.
TV Prabhakaran, a consultant leading the Namaste BHU app team, noted that they are planning to add several more features "very soon." "We are working on developing some other services, including counseling for students and making all important notifications visible to the users," Prabhakaran said.
Streamlined Access
Vice-Chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain launched the app with the objective "to boost digital connectivity with the university as well as make services and information more accessible and user-friendly." The app aims to provide a smooth campus experience by including details of faculties, departments, programs of study offered, and a directory of key officials. Emergency contact numbers for the university and local administration are also displayed on Namaste BHU.
BHU is among the few higher educational institutions that have implemented such an initiative, facilitating smooth internal communication and access to information and services within the university community. The launch event emphasized that those who have registered their mobile number with BHU can create an account on the app. This initiative underlines BHU's commitment to enhancing digital connectivity for its over 40,000-strong community.
This development at Banaras Hindu University marks a significant step towards integrating technology into academic life. The ongoing efforts to upgrade the app reflect a dedication to continuous improvement in providing essential university information digitally.
