The theme of the film-making competition was "Marvels of Northeast India".

All schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) across the country were invited to participate.

Of the 290 entries received, 30 entries were shortlisted, said NPS director J.N. Das.

On Monday, the selected movies were screened one after the other, and panel discussions followed where students involved with the films faced questions from a panel of judges -- journalist-cartoonist Barthav Bora and CBSE education officer Sandeep Seith.

The documentary was also sent to the 5th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2015 in Delhi and the school won awards in two categories -- best documentary and best cinematography.

It was also sent to the 4th Bangalore Short International Film Festival 2015, where it won the best film award.

It was also screened at the Indian Cine Film Festival 2015 and the Kolkata International Film Festival 2015, a jubilant Das added.

The CBSE Schools Film Making Competition 2015 was organised to generate awareness among students regarding the culture and traditions of people in the northeastern region.

The students were required to make a film of maximum five minutes on any of the given topics.

On the competition, Das said it "will help students form an understanding of the lives and cultures of the people living in the northeast".
