Assam Board Revises the Class 12 English curriculum

Effective with the academic year 2023-24, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has altered the syllabus for the subject of English for Higher Secondary or Class 12 schools. The name of the textbook will be "Harmony: An Anthology of Prose and Poetry."

The official notification stated that "In view of the change/revision of the syllabus of the subject alternative English for Higher Secondary 2nd year, this is hereby notified for the information and necessary action of all concerned institutions under AHSEC that the revised syllabus on the subject shall come into force with immediate effect, that is, from the session 2023-24," The authorities also stated that the 'VIBGYOR' will be discontinued with immediate effect.

The Assam Class 12 Board further stated that the AHSEC class 12 textbooks can be obtained free of cost through the Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Limited. Private learners, on the other hand, can purchase the textbook on the open marketplace.

The Council stated that though the textbook syllabus is being revised, some of the previous syllabus's details will be carried over to the redesigned curriculum. The following curriculum will be utilised until the textbook is available:
