Apeejay Svrán Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Lecture by Lord Swraj Paul

New Delhi: The Inaugural Apeejay Svrán Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Lecture held at Apeejay Campus Auditorium, Sheikh Sarai, New Delhi, saw an august gathering to commemorate Dr. Stya Paul - legendary Founder-Chairman of the Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group. Lord Swraj Paul delivered the Inaugural Lecture on ‘Industry, Education and Values', while Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group presided over the event. Also present on the occasion were Lady Aruna Paul, members of the Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group, Apeejay Education Society, Apeejay Stya University and other distinguished dignitaries from the industry & academia.

The Apeejay Svrán Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Lecture has been instituted to honour the memory and legacy of excellence of Dr. Stya Paul - eminent industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter and philanthropist.

Addressing the gathering, Lord Swraj Paul - renowned NRI entrepreneur and Chairman, Caparo Group - spoke about how corporate governance and corruption issues beleaguer many nations worldwide. But he emphasized that these ills could be combated by the universal values of integrity, honesty, frugality and self-discipline espoused by Dr. Stya Paul.

Paying glowing tributes to his eldest brother Dr. Stya Paul - whom he regarded as a mentor and father-figure - Lord Swraj Paul said: "All his life Bhaiji was passionate about education and worked hard to provide first-class schooling and higher education facilities for our young people. The Apeejay Education Society he founded is a great testament to the interest and investment he made in education during his lifetime, a legacy now being carried forward with the same enthusiasm and commitment by his daughter and only child, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia."

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group, asserted: "The economic, educational and ethical challenges that bedevil modern society can be addressed through the moral & human values envisioned by Dr. Stya Paul, which are being espoused and practiced by the various Apeejay educational institutions. Although polio-stricken at the age of two, Dr. Stya Paul overcame all hardships to establish a lasting legacy which serves as a practical inspiration for today's generation on how to surmount hurdles, dream big and then execute those dreams successfully."
