Annual Cultural Festival of BITS Pilani: Oasis 2014

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani is holding its 44th Annual Cultural Festival, Oasis from the 31st of October to the 4th of November, 2014.

A dynamic and versatile community of students and semi-professionals from all over the country participate in this festival annually. This community represents the most productive consumer age group of 18-25 years. At any given point of time, there are 6000+ students from 100+ colleges on campus.

Oasis 2014 is the 44th Annual Cultural Festival of BITS - Pilani, with the underlying theme - "The '90s Show". Over the years, the fest, with a budget of Rs. 65 Lacs, has grown into a unique cultural phenomenon attaining nation-wide popularity.

It will be held on 31st of October to the 4th of November, 2014.

Sunburn will be coming down to Pilani to give a taste of EDM to the students. Talented DJs who have been headlining festivals around the world are a part of the line-up.

For our English Professional show, they have roped in Ragu Dixit Project, which will most probably be covered exclusively by a large television music channel. The very talented artist is both an inspiration and craze among Indian Youth.

Benny Dayal with his new hits from the movie Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani, with chartbuster songs like Badtameez Dil, will be coming down for the Hindi Professional Show. He shall be joined by the immensely famous Raghu Dixit who was a part of the band - Indian Ocean.

N20, the killer comedy show, one of the four ethos events will see either AIB or East India Comedy perform.

Major Semi - Professional rock bands are coming down for Rocktaves, one of the biggest platforms for rock bands who have just begun their journey to go big. Bands like Parikrama (won the 1992 edition of Rocktaves, Oasis), Euphoria, Prestorika have all started their journey from here.

They, through Oasis, have been fortunate to have hosted exceptional performers in the fields of music, dance and drama in the past. Last year, the upbeat music of Farhan Akhtar's band, and the impatient beats of Soulmate captivated the audience.

In the preceding few years, their campus has called on distinguished artists like Neeraj Shridhar, Kailash Kher, Vishal-Shekhar, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, K.K., Lucky Ali, Euphoria, and Sivamani. In the English music circuit, bands such as Parikrama, Motherjane, Oritus, Lounge Piranha, ThemClones and Rainbow Bridge have performed at Oasis.

In the field of theatre we have worked hand-in-hand with Thespo, which is reputed to be the best youth theatrical festival in India. They have had tie-ups with Femina Miss India whose initial rounds have been conducted at the festival. Force India was a part of last year's Oasis. This year, too, spectacular tie-ups are expected at Oasis.
