Anna University BE Admissions: ECE most sought-after by students

Tamil Nadu: The Anna University Engineering Admission Counselling 2015, which was held recently reports that there were many takers for BE (ECE) stream while BE (Mechanical) continues to be the second preference for students during the session.

The Anna University Engineering Admission Counselling 2015, held for the admissions to Government Engineering colleges and self-financed colleges of Engineering .The admission was held for about 560 colleges in Tamil Nadu and the counselling is conducted through single window system.

Counselling session started on June 28 went on for 15 days. At the end of the 12th day courses in BE (public sector) and ECE were opted out by most of the students. So far, about 9,138 students have opted the course. A total of 57.954 students were expected to participate in the public sector, out of which 44,220 students opted for the course.

Out of all the participants 203 students did not choose any stream for admissions.

Total 1.48 lakh seats were available for the admission out of which 9,138 students have opted the ECE stream. The high job placements for the courses has led to increasing demand of the course. However, 896 engineering seats are left vacant

About 8,723 students opted mechanical engineering course while 6,100 students opted BE (Computer Science) and 5,389, 4,978 students have opted the civil stream.

Anna University Engineering Counselling Admission will continue to be held till the end of the month. The academic sessions are expected to kickstart on first week of August.
