Anjishnu Bose Tops Delhi Region in JEE

New Delhi, June 19, 2015: Delhi boy Anjishnu Bose came 26th in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2015, the results of which were declared on Thursday.

Scoring a neat 398 out of 504, Bose topped the Delhi region.

Coming a close second in Delhi was Sagar Goel, with 394 out of 504.

Satvat Jagwani from Madhya Pradesh was the all-India topper with a score of 469.

The second and third positions were bagged by two residents of Indore - Janak Agarwal and Mukesh Pareekh, respectively.

Bose, who lives in south Delhi's Chittaranjan Park, said he was happy with his performance and wishes to join the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Sharing his happiness, Bose told IANS: "I am quite excited with the way things have moved in my life and I am thankful to my parents for their support and cooperation. I am also thankful to my mentors who played a pivotal role in shaping my career." "I wish to do my BSc (Physics) from the IISc-Bangalore."

Bose had scored a high 97.4 percent in his Class 12 board exams.

Expressing his happiness, Sagar Goel, who came second in Delhi, told IANS: "It's been an exhilarating journey since Class 8." "Today's achievement is probably the biggest in my life. I am thankful to my parents and my worthy mentors," said Goel.

This year, only 26,456 candidates managed to qualify for the JEE Advanced of the 1,24,741 candidates who appeared for the exam.

A total of 1,27,238 students had registered to take the JEE Advanced exam, which is for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and the Indian School of Mines.

Boys outperformed girls, with 23,407 of the qualified candidates being male and 3,049 being female candidates.

The number of girls qualifying the competitive has gone up from last year, albeit marginally.

A total of 3,009 girls qualified in 2014. Krati Tiwari from Indore was the topper in the female category, with her all-India rank being 47.
