
All India Institute of Ayurveda, Jasola, Delhi to start its functioning from the academic year 2015-16, said Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan.
The institute will admit the students for its postgraduate programmes from the year 2015-16.
Dr Vardhan said that AIIA have to develop into a centre of excellence along the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). AIIA offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Ayurveda and will focus on fundamental research of Ayurveda, drug development, standardisation, quality control, safety evaluation and scientific validation of ayurvedic medicine.
It will also facilitate 200 bed hospital to the students for medical practice.
The AIIA will also have 25 specialty departments, 12 clinics and eight inter-disciplinary research laboratories. It provides education to 120 scholars, and they have access for PG and Ph.D programmes every year.
