University of Southampton UK Invites Applications for MSc Complex Care

USPs of the programme: In today's fast paced and aging world, people are finding it increasingly difficult to know how best to respond to the complex needs of elderly people. As a result experts in complex care for older people are in high demand by hospitals and other care providers in India and throughout the world.

 

The MSc Complex Care in Older People programme, offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton, in the UK, aims to develop the knowledge, skills and self-efficacy to understand and respond appropriately to the complexities involved in upholding the rights and supporting older people from diverse cultural backgrounds with multiple health conditions.

The postgraduate research-led programme covers the clinical, psychosocial, sociocultural, ethical and organisational aspects of supporting older peoplewith complex needs. The programme is suitable for senior nurses, allied healthcare professionals, social care professionals, healthcare commissioners and new healthcare graduates wishing to develop their careers in older peoples' services and global research.

The programme modules are a combination of innovative and interactive teaching including web-based case studies, key note lectures, seminars, small group work, webinars and peer-mentoring. All students have the opportunity to select a 4 week practicum from a range of options in different settings. Students can also become a part of a research group comprising international experts where they can formulate and test pioneering theories and approaches.

Course Duration:The full-time programme takes minimum 1 year to maximum 18 months to complete. The programme can be studied on a part-time basis also and be completed within two to five years.

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have an honours degree in a relevant subject or relevant work experience and evidence of being able to study at Master's level. The applicant must also be in contact, in a statutory or voluntary role, with older people with complex care needs. The applicants must have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 along with a reading, writing, speaking and listening score of 6. They are also required to provide at least one satisfactory reference.

Commencing From: September, 2016.

Course Fee: £15,920 (full time)

Scholarships: Students can apply for the Southampton International Merit Scholarship of up to £5,000.

Application Deadline: It is advisable to apply by the end of June 2016.
