School admission process starts at Jamia

Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university starts its school admission process for Sayed Abid Husain Sr. Secondary School for the academic year 2014. The application form (with prospectus) for admission to Class I and VI is available at the selling counter of Maktaba Jamia Ltd., Jamia Millia Islamia on cash payment.

Jamia Millia Islamia derives its name from Urdu language in which Jamia means University and Millia means National. This University, born off the Indian National Movement and patriotic fervour, was founded in response to a call by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920 to boycott the Government-supported institutions.

Today it has 9 faculties, 39 departments and 33 research centres with nearly 18000 students on rolls. The University has a distinction of offering education from nursery school to doctoral level.

The University is inching closer to the significant milestone of completing 100 years in 2020. In the last 93 years, the University, with its unique nationalistic and progressive ethos, has selflessly served the country by bringing into the ambit of formal education thousands of youth from the deprived sections of the society. Boys and girls who are first generation learners are seeking to change their destiny and thereby the destiny of their families and the society by enrolling at the University in large numbers. Jamia Millia Islamia has not failed these first-generation learners. Our teachers realize the additional responsibility to educate and make them into fine, confident citizens of this country.

Free of cost application form along with prospectus will also be available for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category on production of attested copy of income certificate. Forms can also be downloaded from Jamia's website.
