NIT, Hamirpur opens Ph.D programmes admission

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur has invited applications for admission into full time/part time/off campus Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes.

Admissions are offered in the following programmes Architecture (Arch.), Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Maths), Humanities and Social Sciences [H&SS (Eco)], [H&SS (English)], Centre for Energy and Environmental Engineering (CEEE) and Centre for Material Science & Engineering [(CMSE), CMSE (Geology)] for the session 2015.

Eligibility Criteria

• Ph.D in Engineering/Architecture: The applicant must have a Master Degree in Engineering /Technology/Architecture in appropriate discipline with CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. Whereas SC/ST candidates should have CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree will be applicable
• Ph.D in Applied Sciences: The applicant must have a master degree in relevant science subject with CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. While SC/ST candidates a CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree will be applicable
• Ph.D in Humanities & Social Sciences: The applicant must have a master degree in appropriate discipline with CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. Whereas for SC/ST candidates a CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree will be applicable

Selection Procedure

The selection process shall be in two stages

• Stage-I: Shortlisted candidates are required to qualify in a written examination in the relevant discipline conducted by the Institute
• Stage-II: Candidates who qualify to stage-II shall appear for interview and presentation

• Announcement of shortlisted candidate: July 10, 2015
• Date of screening test: July 29, 2015
• Date of interview: July 29, 2015 to July 30, 2015
