So all the students looking to take admissions into UG, PG and PhD level law courses in National Law University, Delhi and other affiliated law colleges must sit up and take notice.

To those unaware, the All India Law Entrance Test, AILET is conducted by the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) once every year for granting students admission into its undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs.

Moreover, the AILET scores also serve as the benchmark and are accepted, for admission into law courses at various other universities in India. There are 110 seats in the 5-year integrated BA LLB (Honours) course, 70 in LLM and 18 in PhD programs of NLU Delhi.   • Issue Of Admit Card (Online): Tuesday, November 22, 2022
  • Date Of Ailet Exam 2023: December 11, 2022 (11 Am To 12:30 Pm)


Application/Exam Fee:

  • For General/OBC Applicants: Rs. 3,500
  • For SC/ST/PwD Applicants: Rs. 1,500

BPL candidates of the SC/ST category don't have to pay any fee provided that they can submit valid proof of their status.

  • Exam Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Eligibility Criteria for AILET Exams

Eligibility: 5-year BA LLB (Honours)

  • You have to be 10+2 passed, or with an equivalent qualification, with 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).
  • Candidates appearing for the 12th standard annual examination in 2023 are also eligible to apply.
  • Total Seats: 110

Eligibility: 1 year LLM

  • You must have an LLB or an equivalent law degree with 50% marks (45% in the case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities).
  • Candidates appearing for the final year LLB examination in 2023 are also eligible to apply.
  • Total Seats: 70

Eligibility: PhD

  • You must have an LLM or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% in the case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities).
  • Total Seats: 14 (UGC-JRF: 5 seats, AILET Merit -5 seats, Fellowship through AILET Merit -4 seats).
  • UGC-JRF Candidates are exempt from the AILET.

Seats for all the courses will follow reservation policies as per the UGC Regulations.

AILET Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2023

The Exam Pattern and Syllabus of AILET 2023 for the BA LLB and LLM programs have changed. Have a look:

For BA LLB Course

  • The question paper will now have just 3 sections:
  • Logical Reasoning: 70 marks
  • English Language: 50 marks, and
  • Current Affairs & GL section: 30 marks
  • 2 papers namely Mathematics and Legal Reasoning have been removed by the authority from this year onward.

For LLM Course

  • It will now have two sections: Sections A & B
  • Section A will have objective-type questions from English Language and Legal Reasoning, carrying 100 marks.
  • Section B will have descriptive-type questions from core law subjects carrying 50 marks.

How to Apply for AILET 2023 Exam

  • Go to the official website of NLU Delhi at https://nationallawuniversitydelhi.in/
  • New Users should Register first and then Log in using their created credentials; Old users can log in directly by entering their Mobile Number and Password
  • All you need is your Mobile Number and Email ID to register. Once registered, log in to the website
  • Once logged in, go to the AILET 2023 Application Link and click on that
  • Fill in the details as required and submit
  • Pay the Exam Fee
  • Download, and take a printout of the final confirmation page for use in future.

Once the AILET 2023 Exam Admit Card is uploaded to the website (expected date is 20th November 2022), kindly log in to the website again to download the Hall Ticket for AILET 2023.

What after the AILET 2023 Exam

Once the AILET 2023 Result is declared, all the examinees will receive their individual AILET Scorecard 2023. It will have your All India Ranks (AIRs), Sectional Marks as well as Total Marks. Then the AILET 2023 Counselling will be held to allot seats to qualified candidates based on their rank on the merit list.
