About 1.95 Lakh Candidates Take-up CAT 2016, Paper Not Error Free!

CAT 2016 was held yesterday, Dec 4, 2016 across 138 cities. About 1.95 lakh candidates have taken-up the examination competing for seats at the prestigious IIMs.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 was held yesterday on December 4, 2016 in two sessions across the country. The exam was held across 138 cities, about 1.95 lakh candidates have to said to have taken-up the examination.

This year, CAT 2016 saw a seven-year high of registrations with 2,32,434 applications. CAT 2016 was organised by Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. CAT is conducted for admissions into IIMs and other premier B-schools across the country.

Candidates who appeared for CAT 2016 also claimed that the test was not free of errors.

According to TOI, some candidates claimed that 3 questions in the quantitative ability (QA) section showed 'Pi' symbol on their computer screens instead of what should have ideally been a 'square root'.

Some applicants and experts also have claimed that at least one questions in the quantitative ability (QA) section was wrong.

Candidates who have found the glitches in the CAT 2016 question paper are apprehensive to know how these mistakes will be compensated.

The number of questions and pattern was as similar as that of the last year say experts. The questions were similar to the previous year had 3 sections verbal ability and reading comprehension (34 questions), data interpretation and logical reasoning (32 questions) and quantitative ability (34 questions). The data interpretation and logical reasoning part was said to be the toughest section this year.

To curb malpractice, IIM Bangalore had barred several items including watch, mobile phone, earphones, microphones, pager and healthband to the examination hall.

Candidates were also notified not to wear closed shoes and even socks to the examination hall. The aspirants were also asked not to wear mehandi saying it would affect the finger prints of the candidates.

The results of CAT 2016 will be declared during the second week of January 2017.
