The Union Government employees working in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (NVS), under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, will stand to be benefit from a recently assented amendment by the Centre on enhanced gratuity limit.
The employees of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (JNVS) or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (NVS), falling under the ambit of 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC) will now have a gratuity ceiling up to Rs. 20 lakhs from the previous limit of Rs. 10 lakhs benefiting scores of NVS/JNVS employees. As per the order, issued by the Centre, the gratuity ceiling got extended from March 29, 2018 and, thus benefited scores of personnel who had joined the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (JNVS)/Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (NVS) post January 1, 2004 as per its provisions.
The order categorically states that the Gratuity Act, 1972 is being pushed to effect the employees working with the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Depat. of School Education and Literacy, under MHRD tasked with enhancing the rural education, and grooming the talented children in rural areas across the country.
Following the implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), the limit of tax-free gratuity amount for the union government employees was enhanced from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh benefiting scores of central government employees, which got further extended to the employees of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis (JNVS)/NVS.
