With about 7,000 seats remaining at the Delhi University, undergraduate admissions are still not over. Due to the high number of seats remaining vacant for the 2016 academic session, Delhi University will be releasing 3 more cut-offs.
Earlier, the Delhi University had announced to releasing only 5 cut-off lists for this year. Admissions under the 5th cut-off list ended on July 22, 2016.
The sixth cut-off list for the remaining seats will be announced on Saturday, August 20, 2016 and admissions under the 6th cut-off list will be conducted till August 22, 2016.
The 7th and the 8th cut-off lists will be announced on August 24, and August 29, 2016 respectively.
The admissions on the vacant seats were done by merit system after the fifth cut-off. Registered students had to apply again for vacant seats and a merit list was brought by college.
The admissions under the merit system got over on August 16.
The undergraduate admission process started on May 1, 2016 with the online registration process. But a large number of seats have remained unfilled, including many in popular courses such as commerce, economics, English, history , political science, mathematics, physics and chemistry across colleges.
"We are restarting the cut-off system for admissions. Many students have withdrawn admissions due to which there are vacant seats in different in many colleges. There will be three cut-offs," said a University official.
Close to 50 colleges will issue their sixth cutoff across 12 courses on Saturday.
