50% seats reserved for SC / ST students in Karnataka: ComedK

The Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK), Bangalore, has issued a notification on reservation of seats in Member institutions of ComedK in Karnataka.

Government of Karnataka confirming the implementation of the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee), Act 8 of 2006, all the sanctioned intake in ComedK member institutions excluding NRI quota will be filled through entrance test only.

In a meeting on 16th December 2013, it has been categorically decided that Act 8 of 2006 is the only relevant legislation that would govern all admissions to private unaided professional educational institutions.

Therefore, according to the Act 8 of 2006, 50% of seats in ComedK member institutions are reserved for candidates belonging to SC / ST and other backward classes from the state of Karnataka, and remaining seats will be filled under general category.

The relevant Government Order No. SWD 225 BCA 2000, dated 30th March 2002 with regard to reservation for admissions to the educational institutions as per Article 15 (4) of the Constitution would be followed ‘stricto sensu' and the same has also been notified on the ComedK website separately.

All candidates coming within the ambit of the said Government Order dated 30th March 2002 are requested to avail this opportunity by submitting the filled in applications on or before the last date i.e., Friday the 3rd January 2014.
