50 new educational TV channels on the cards

The government plans to launch 50 educational television channels, parliament was told Wednesday.

"The government is planning to start educational television channels. In the first phase, the number of channels planned to be started is 50," Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

He also said universities will be selected for the purpose, but the list was yet to be finalised.
