5 Universities in Karnataka running without VCs

The delay in the appointment of Vice-chancellor's for universities in Karnataka has put the state government in trouble and students are facing problems.

As per the reports, state government has directed UGC to appoint the VC's for these universities, but they have failed.

The Kuvempu University, Shimoga, Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Bellary, Rani Chennamma University, Belgaum, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga and Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bangalore are running the varsity without VC.

In the end of October 2014, the period of VC at Karnatak University, Dharwad will be vacant.

Karnataka Higher Education Minister, R V Deshpande blamed the UGC for delay in appointment of VCs. "We are ready to send the list of member for VCs, but the UGC is not responding to the communication sent by the minister."

According to the UGC, state government has ignored the person appointed by the UGC.

For the appointment of VCs to Bangalore University and VTU, state ignored the person selected by the UGC and state government also had conducted meeting without UGC members for the selection of VCs.

Now, UGC has decided not interfere with any matter regarding the state government for the appointment of vice-chancellors to these universities.

For the students' purpose, any of the members of the state government committee and UGC members have to select the VCs for these universities.
