30 students to get scholarships

Muzaffarnagar: A total of 30 children who lost their families in the riots here last year, will get monthly scholarships, District Magistrate said.

The district authorities have identified 30 students who would be provided scholarships under the scheme.

While school students will be provided a monthly scholarship of Rs 1,000/-, students pursuing professional courses will get Rs 1,500/- per month, DM Kaushal Raj told reporters here.

Around 60 people died and thousands were displaced from their homes in last year's communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and neighbouring villages of Western Uttar Pradesh.
