What does the education department have to say?
Primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait said, "There are several posts which are lying vacant and it becomes important to fill them. That is the reason, right from the primary classes itself we have been elevating teachers to the higher classes and that is what our new education policy is all about."
"High school teachers will be promoted to PU department based on the qualification. Likewise, this will be started right from the lower classes and all this will happen through an examination. All candidates will have to write an exam and only then be promoted," he added.

Commerce courses demand increases more than science courses
The minister said, "Teachers for commerce will be recruited based on vacancies. What we are planning to do is, increase the number of positions for the commerce subjects and reduce for science subjects. The reason is simple - the demand is more and the enrollment for commerce is rising."
