5 Night colleges by University of Pune

University of Pune is all set to open five new night colleges in the university area of Nashik, Ahmednagar and Pune district. The announcement was made on Tuesday which says that the university has made provisions in its prospective plan for the setting up of five new colleges.

"We have started receiving applications from interested academic organisations who want to set up such night colleges," says Pune University's director of board of college and university development, VB Gaikwad.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Wasudeo Gade stated "these night colleges will start with arts and commerce degree courses at the undergraduate level and progress to postgraduate courses."

Out of 11 departments of the University of Pune, enrollment for external provision for UG and PG level is only available for the faculty of arts and the faculty of commerce.

Currently Pune University has total seven night colleges, four in Pune and the remaining three are in Ahmednagar and Nashik districts.

NandKumar Nikam, Management Council says, "Our aim is to promote the new night colleges in areas close to industrial belts and in rural parts where there are sizeable number of people who would like to pursue their studies while simultaneously doing their job during the day."
