National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar, is set to conduct career counselling session for Odisha students.
"To attract the students from the odisha state, this career counselling will be carried," said NIFT Director.
Presently, NIFT Bhubaneswar offers four courses - Bachelor of Textile Design, Bachelor of Fashion Design, Bachelor in Life style Accessory Design and Master of Fashion Management.
While bachelor degree courses are for four years, Master degree course is a two year course.
The NIFT Bhubaneswar will have an intake capacity of 30 for each bachelor courses and 35 seats for Master degree course.
Institute reserves 20% of seats to state candidates for UG and PG programmes. Remaining seats were filled by all India quota.
In current academic year, the number of state quota seats was increased to 16 with 8 seats remaining vacant.
According to NIFT sources, this show the lack of awareness among the students and parents about the quota.
"The situation has certainly improved to a great extent in this academic year. The primary reason behind some seats remaining vacant is that not many students are aware of this kind of career option," said Director KCS Ray.
"So we have decided to go with career counselling session to attract the students for the courses," he added.
